Computer Security Over Home Security?

Run a search on Google about most anything involved with security, and you'll see that most of the results pertain to computer security. While that, in itself, is no problem, it hints at a rather disconcerting trend.
Over the years, we have come to appreciate and value the safety of our software, especially since it has become increasingly difficult to protect it. Spyware, computer viruses, hackers, and the like have found innovative ways to break into our systems, invade our privacy, and take our files and programs. Our response? Using virus scans and anti-malware programs to reinforce the security of our computers.
A substantial security increase is a perfectly natural response to the evolution of various security threats. So why then do we tend to reserve that reaction only for matters involving computer security? Why not value home security the same way?
Just like software, our homes are becoming increasingly harder to protect. Just like malware and hackers, criminals are coming up with more creative ways to break into our homes, invade our privacy, and take our property. So our response should be just like that when the security of our computers is threatened.
It's not as if we don't have the means to counter the efforts of the most persistent of criminals. While their methods of circumvention have evolved, so too have our methods of protection. High security locks, security bars, security doors, CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and various other sophisticated security devices are now at our disposal. All we have to do is use them to our advantage, as we do with anti-virus software.
The times may be changing and computer security may have taken center stage, but neither is a sufficient excuse to shift our attention away from home security. It remains to be something that we need to concern ourselves with, as well as something that is more than deserving of our constant attention.
